The owner asked us to replace all the lower panels on a late Austin minor van. Having removed many layers of paint, more and more holes and bodge repairs were unearthed.
The customer asked us having told them the bad news, to check all the rear chassis sections and repair as required.
As expected many bodge and cheap repairs were uncovered, repairs just good enough to get and mot and worry about it on the next mot when it will need doing again.
A hole discovered near to the rear shock mount, easy to spot once the floor and petrol tank were removed. The leaking fuel tank was held in by a couple of screws and some pop rivets! The customer has asked us to replace everything with the correct parts.
Extensive rot in the nearside chassis.
Cargo floor is in a very fragile state.
Yes, yet more cover plates over old repairs which in turn have become a rust trap.
Not much chassis left on the nearside once the rot was cut away.
New metal going in.
Its starting to look good and we are getting some strength back into the chassis.
