This 1953 Morris Minor mail van, the second oldest was found in a yard in April 2000. Since finding this rare van the correct unique GPO fittings have been sourced. Work is carried out as and when time is available which accounts for the slow progress.
Please read and view the pictures from the bottom up.
Now the rear inner and outer body crossmember panels are being replaced. Before the new inner and outer panels were welded together captive nuts had to be welded on to the inside of the outer panel to fix the GPO specification door hooks and rubber buffers.
NXO 922 was found in early 2000 after having been stored in a barn along with several other early steel winged Minor mail vans since the mid sixties. Even in this state I had this van running and moving under its own power in about an hour. Plugs and points were cleaned, a fuel supply was connected to the pump and it fired up as if it had been switched off yesterday. Even the clutch was free.
